Department of Mathematical Sciences
Loughborough University is seeking to appoint a dedicated and ambitious academic to a Lectureship in Applied Mathematics or Statistics. The appointee will become a member of the Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) within the School of Science. The appointed candidate will collaborate effectively in a team atmosphere; will have an intellectually challenging research agenda in any area of modelling and industrial mathematics, or applied probability and statistics and a commitment to innovative research-led teaching.
The DMS has a vibrant community of researchers who are committed to supporting each other deliver outstanding research. It consists of six research groups http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/maths/research/groups/. The appointment in Applied Mathematics will join one of the applied research groups. The DMS has recently made a strategic commitment to invest in Statistics. Together with two recently-hired Lecturers, the new Statistician will form a new Research Group in Statistics.
Candidates should have an emerging track record of outstanding research with impact and the potential to attract external funding. They will initiate and participate in collaborative activity with School members and across the University.
The appointment will be on a full-time, open-ended contract, commencing 1st December 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.
