Loughborough University is seeking to appoint a Chair of the Open Research Working Group (0.1 FTE) to play a crucial role in further developing and supporting Open Research activity within the institution.
The Chair will have a passion for Open Research and will work with key colleagues in schools and professional services to lead and coordinate Loughborough’s activities in this area, in line with Loughborough’s Open Research Position Statement and broader Research & Innovation culture ambitions.
The Working Group reports to the Research and Innovation Committee and consists of Open Research Leads, who represent each of Loughborough’s Schools, along with key members of the Library, Research and Innovation Office, and IT Services.
The Chair will facilitate the work of the Group and will develop a clear understanding of the disciplinary differences in relation to open research.
The successful candidate will be an experienced researcher from within the academic community with a strong commitment to and enthusiasm for open research in all its forms. They will be able to demonstrate a willingness to advocate for open research and role model open research activities
The role will benefit from regular 1:1s with the PVC R&I Professor Dan Parsons and/or the Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (R&I – Impact and Internationalisation) Professor Ksenia Chmutina to update on activity.
Support for administering meetings will be provided by the University Library. Please note that whilst this role is 0.1FTE, there is no backfill allocated. We ask therefore that any interest is discussed with your Dean/AD R&I prior to application.
