Research Associate in Design - Product / Packaging / Service
The Perpetual Plastic for Food to Go (PPFTG) project aims to find solutions to existing issues with plastic packaging, reduce plastic waste and pollution, and unlock barriers to create fundamental changes within UK industry. Funded by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging Challenge this 3-year project is led by Loughborough University in collaboration with industry partners from across the food to go supply chain. Taking a design-led approach, this project is developing, prototyping, and evaluating a novel circular business model that combines smart-technology enabled products and services to reduce the environmental, societal, and economic impact of food to go packaging. The PPFTG project runs to October 2023.
Working alongside a team of researchers from across the School of Design and Creative Arts, the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, and the Department of Materials, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the area of design within the context of UK FTG packaging; undertaking investigation and leading the delivery of project outcomes related to project objective 4 (the creation of a working prototype of a novel future FTG Circular Product-Service System concept assessed via consumer and industry stakeholder evaluation).
The position is fixed term until the end of the project, 31st October 2023.
