Loughborough University is seeking to appoint a Procurement Manager. Reporting to the Procurement and Financial Services Manager (covering expenditure, income and procurement), you will manage all aspects of procurement via a team of three with a responsibility to provide specialist professional management and direction to the University's procurement procedures ensuring best value for money is facilitated whilst meting strategic and operational business need.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing a procurement function within a large and complex business and be able to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities. You will be an excellent communicator with strong customer service ethics.
Educated to first degree level or equivalent along with full CIPS membership, you will need to be able to demonstrate working knowledge of the full procurement cycle, practices and procedures in a large business as well as knowledge of new technologies that enhance deliverables. Experience in project and change management within the procurement arena is desirable.
The role will require monitoring, reporting and presentation of information to senior staff and other audiences. You will also be required to both attend and hold a number of cross functional meetings, preparing your own information for presentation and discussion.
Other key duties will be to assist in the production and updating of new and existing procedures and processes, and to lead associated systems development to optimise outputs.
Being part of a busy, changing and challenging environment, you should be proactive and conscientious, yet quick to adapt and be prepared to go the extra mile to meet the challenges of both the role and the business.
You will have excellent communication skills, being comfortable with meeting and explaining detailed and complex information clearly and concisely. You will also have a proactive approach to problem solving as you will be handling queries from commercial suppliers and staff of all levels.
As a key member of the wider Finance Team, you should be a friendly, helpful, outgoing team player.
The University uses various academic systems and Agresso as a financial system, therefore you should be highly computer literate and able to interpret, record and report procurement and financial data to a wide range of audiences. You should also be comfortable in dealing with large volumes of data quickly and accurately.
