Department of Materials
The Department of Materials is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Polymer Science/Engineering with a Special Interest in Biomaterials. The successful candidate will contribute to, develop and enhance the research, teaching and enterprise activities of the Department to strengthen existing areas of research and open new ones in the area of Polymer Chemistry/Engineering, with specific interests in materials for biomedical and related applications.

The School has a strategic vision to build on existing excellence and to further develop across the areas of Advanced Materials, Biological Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. It is expected the successful candidate would make a significant contribution to activities in line with this.
Activity within the School already makes a major contribution to the fully integrated 'innovation-to-product' Centre for Biological Engineering (CBE), which brings together world-class researchers in the fields of healthcare engineering and cell technologies. The CBE also leads the GBP 6.1m EPSRC Doctoral Training Centre in Regenerative Medicine.
The Department has a wealth of excellent research facilities, most notable being the Loughborough Materials Characterisation Centre (LMCC), which provides a world class service, both in terms of equipment and staff expertise, which greatly enhances our research activities.
We are interested in candidates who can pursue a personal research programme consistent with the research priorities of the Advanced Materials Research Theme and more generally within the Enabling Technologies and Healthcare and Wellbeing Challenge Themes across the university.
The successful candidate should be able to show a track record of research achievement, including experience of authoring a substantial body of original work. A background in an appropriate Science/Engineering discipline with specific and current expertise relevant to Materials/Polymer Science with specific and current expertise in Biomaterials/bio-medical applications is essential.
You would join one of the country's pre-eminent Materials Engineering Departments and work with a dedicated team of academic, technical and administrative staff as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Materials. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of projects, and be willing to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the Department's excellent standards in teaching and learning.
