Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for:
Dr Dowon Bae’s Lab at Loughborough University explores electrochemical low-grade heat energy storage. The EPSRC has funded the project entitled “Heat Utilisation via Thermally Regenerative Electrochemical System (HEATHER)”, which aims to develop an efficient thermally regenerative redox flow battery system.
The main duty of the position will be to design the electrolyte with high heat-harnessing potential, considering the dimensional aspects of the redox flow battery. The post is fixed term until August 2025.

Key Requirements:
· Experience in redox flow battery assembly and characterisation
· Experience in CFD analyses for redox flow batteries
· Experience in solar-powered redox flow batteries
· Previous postdoctoral research experience
· Good written and oral communication skills
· High-quality publication record within the redox flow battery field
· Ability to conduct overseas external research visits
· PhD (or about to obtain) in Mechanical Engineering

Desirable Requirements:
· Experience in electrochemical flow cell design and fabrication
· Experience in thermal runway of the batteries
· Experience in RFB electrolyte design and preparation
· Experience in nanofluid channel and mass transfer studies for RFB
· Knowledge of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)
· Knowledge of RFB electrolyte safety and corrosion issues
· Skills in writing bids for research grants
