The School of Science at Loughborough University undertakes world-leading research and teaching in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Mathematics Education and boasts state-of-the-art facilities and an active research community.
The Department of Physics is looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Experimental Physics, in any of but not restricted to the areas:
The new member of staff will either complement or link with our existing research activities in the areas of materials physics, THz physics, magnetism, spintronics, memristors, superconductivity, quantum information theory, emergent photonics, and medical physics.
The Department has invested in its experimental facilities, including but not limited to: a new cleanroom and satellite equipment for device fabrication; a state-of-the-art thin-film and STM/AFM system with integrated thermal nanolithography; a cryogen-free magnetometer for electric and thermal transport measurements; a suite of X-ray diffraction and reflectometry equipment; and it is also supported by characterisation facilities provided by the Loughborough Materials Characterisation Centre, which includes SEM, TEM, XPS and XRF. The Department hosts the Emergent Photonics Research Centre.
The Department strives to develop gifted graduates, train postgraduate students in specialist topics and undertake cutting edge research. The Department attracts staff and students from all over the world and is proud of its diverse and stimulating environment.
Successful candidates will have a record of excellence which is contributing to the furtherance of knowledge in their discipline, and which is recognised internationally. Candidates must also have a PhD or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate a clear trajectory towards achievement at a higher academic level.
