Laboratory Technician
Full-time and Open-Ended starting as soon as possible
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Laboratory Technician within Geography and Environment in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Loughborough University.
As a key member of the technical team, you will be required to support the laboratory and field activities carried out by academic staff, researchers and students. You will carry out technical or scientific tasks, under general guidance but planned and organised independently. As you gain more experience and training, you would be expected to undertake more complex aspects of the role along with challenging tasks and responsibilities. There may be opportunities to learn novel techniques and gain knowledge in new areas of expertise.
The ability to prioritise your workload effectively, work to tight deadlines, as well as work with attention to detail are essential to the role. The role may involve frequent interaction with students and staff, so you will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people in a variety of situations. You will need to be versatile, enthusiastic, approachable and able to work independently as well as with others in the small, dedicated technical team. A hands-on, pro-active approach to work and 'can-do' attitude are essential.
