Voluntary Subwarden - William Morris Hall
OPEN TO INTERNAL LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY PHD STUDENTS ONLY
A vacancy has arisen for a Subwarden at William Morris Hall of Residence. Applications are invited from post graduate research students of the University.Accommodation and Catering ArrangementsFree accommodation is available during term time. The accommodation available is only suitable for a single person. Subwardens in self-catered halls are entitled to one courtesy meal per day for each week that the students in their hall are in residence.
DutiesSubwardens assist the Warden in the day to day running of the hall. This will involve pastoral, disciplinary and administrative duties as well as being involved in social aspects of hall life. The successful applicant will be part of a team which provides out-of-hours emergency cover in a hall of 477 students and which helps to ensure the smooth running of the hall.
Personal AttributesCandidates must display a high level of personal organisational ability, good administrative ability, leadership qualities, and exercise and maintain a disciplined and fair approach towards students. Subwardens are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the community spirit of the Hall and be a good team player.
It is very important to find out what you are committing yourself to and to understand what is involved. All applicants are required to find out more about the hall community as it forms an integral part of the selection process. The successful applicant must be available to attend Sub Warden training sessions in September.

Applicants should not submit a standard University application form. Please submit the Voluntary Subwardenship application form (attached) together with an accompanying letter outlining suitability for the post. These are then to be sent directly to the Warden with an accompanying letter and two written references (PhD Supervisors, Director of Studies / Line Manager, Head of Section).Completed application forms are to be submitted to the Warden by email by Monday 1st September 2014. Interviews will be held later that week. Successful candidates should be ready to take their place in hall in mid-September 2014. The successful applicant will be expected to attend a compulsory two day subwarden training course on 18th and 19th September 2014.
