Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering
Fixed Term Until 31 December 2019
The project will undertake the development of scalable bio-processes to generate manufactured blood products from somatic or stem cells using state-of-the-art micro-bioreactor technology with advanced monitoring and control to understand environmental effects on cell phenotype.
It will work at the interface of an EPSRC fellowship programme on haematopoietic cell processing and a national multi-Centre programme for immunotherapy and T-Cell based products. Applicants from either a biological or engineering background who have the ability and motivation to acquire the multidisciplinary skills are encouraged to apply.
A good honours degree and PhD in a Biological or Engineering discipline. Experience in cell biology techniques and in cell and tissue culture using human cells, including stem cells and/or experience in appropriate engineering approaches (process modelling, process optimization) and knowledge and understanding of bio-process development methods and the principles underlying these techniques is desirable.
