Loughborough University is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced technical tutor in the Chemistry Department of the multi-disciplinary School of Science.
The post holder will apply substantial experimental subject expertise to provide technical support to Chemistry Department staff and students in the STEMLab Bioscience teaching laboratories. The role will also support the learning and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate practical project work in the Chemistry research laboratories when required.
Duties will include: providing supervision and instruction to students in laboratories, ensuring chemistry laboratory equipment and specialist facilities are maintained and technical support is provided to staff and student users, implementation of laboratory Health and Safety procedures, testing and constructing/preparing new experiments and providing line management to other technical team members. This role would suit someone with experience in biosciences and the ability to deliver practical sessions individually and as part of a team. A good working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations and practices is also required.
The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual with proven communication skills. In depth experimental knowledge of aseptic techniques would be advantageous, as would some working knowledge of chemistry techniques and instrumentation.
