Department of Chemical Engineering
The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Industrial Biotechnology. The successful candidate will contribute to, develop and enhance the research, teaching and enterprise activities of the Department to strengthen existing areas of research and open new ones in the area of Industrial Biotechnology or Bioprocess Engineering.
Loughborough is a top 20 UK University and the Chemical Engineering Department has a reputation within industry and academia for research excellence and producing highly trained, well-educated and professional chemical engineers. Staff and students also benefit from world class laboratory and pilot scale facilities and close industrial relationships with leading companies in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, petrochemical, food, brewing and bioscience sectors.
The Department has a dedicated Class 2 Biolab where staff already work in the Bioprocessing, Biorefinery and Bioenergy sectors.
We are interested in candidates who can pursue a personal research programme consistent with the research priorities of the Process Engineering Research Theme and Biological Engineering area within the School and more generally within the Enabling Technologies and Healthcare and Wellbeing Challenge Themes across the university.
The successful candidate should be able to show a track record of research achievement, including experience of authoring a substantial body of original work. A background in an appropriate Science/Engineering discipline with specific and current expertise relevant to Industrial Biotechnology and/or Bioprocess Engineering is essential.
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Chemical Engineering Department the successful candidate will contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of projects, and be willing to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the Department's high standards in teaching and learning.
