Fixed-Term for 24 Months
The EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Intelligent Automation is currently looking for an ambitious recently graduated postdoctoral Research Associate who would like to contribute to creating new integrated engineering tools and methods to enable better, faster and more robust planning and design of complex one-of-a-kind assembly systems. The research will explore the application of knowledge-based and distributed reasoning techniques to support designers of complex systems within the context of Cyber-Physical-Systems applied in the assembly system domain. This post offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience working on large European funded research projects and interacting directly with some leading industrial organisations such as Ford, Electrolux and Fiat.
A PhD in a relevant field engineering field (or equivalent experience) with relevant experience in manufacturing system design, engineering software systems and shop floor data acquisition systems is essential. Relevant experience with machine learning, configurator systems, knowledge-based systems and semantic modelling and reasoning is desirable.
