Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering
The Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Advanced Propulsion. The successful candidate will contribute to, develop and enhance the research, teaching and enterprise activities of the Department to strengthen existing areas of research and open new ones in the area of automotive propulsion and vehicle electrification.
Loughborough is a top 20 UK University and the Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering department has an excellent reputation for research and teaching and close industrial partnerships with the leading companies in the automotive and aerospace sectors, built on a long and successful history. Automotive engineering started in 1919 and Aeronautical in 1935.
Staff and students in the Department enjoy one of the UK's best Aeronautical and Automotive teaching and learning environments in a GBP 14m purpose built facility including laboratories, workshops, wind-tunnels, flight simulator and a technical display area.
The Low Carbon Technologies research group within the Department has a reputation for world-class research and has at its disposal an extensive range of specialist laboratory facilities including powertrains lab, combustion lab, fuel cells lab, battery and power electronics labs, dynamics and control lab. The successful candidate will be involved in and contribute to the University's strategic plans to develop the new advanced propulsion technologies required for the move to zero emission vehicles. We are interested in candidates who can pursue a personal research programme consistent with the research priorities of the Low Carbon Technologies research group and the successful candidate should be able to show a track record of research achievement, including experience of authoring a substantial body of original work. A background in an appropriate Science/Engineering discipline with specific and current expertise relevant to one or more of the following, electrical machines and drives, power electronics, energy storage and management, reliability, hybrid technologies and powertrain integration, is essential.
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering Department the successful candidate will contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of projects, and be willing to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the Department's high standards in teaching and learning.
