School of Science
The School of Science at Loughborough University is establishing an Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical Modelling (ICMM) under the leadership of Professor Tapio Ala-Nissila, see here: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/science/research/mathematical-modelling/. The Centre will initially focus on multiscale modelling of materials (including soft matter), (open) quantum systems and related emerging technologies.
As part of the first phase of this exciting initiative, we are seeking to appoint an ambitious academic to a Readership in Applied Mathematics. The appointee will be a member of the ICMM and will teach on programmes offered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences within the School and contribute to Mathematics service teaching to other Schools.
The successful candidate will have an established track record of outstanding research in the initial focus areas of the ICMM and the capacity to attract external funding. They will be expected to initiate and lead in collaborative research activity with ICMM members and across the University. The successful candidate will also be committed to innovative, inclusive, research-led teaching.
The appointment will be on a full-time, open-ended contract, commencing 1 September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
