Research Associate in Gas Turbine Instrumentation
Two positions available (13 months fixed-term)
A Research Associate is required to join a well-established team within the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Combustion System Aerothermal Processes. The work involves the development of techniques to calibrate pressure and temperature probes to a high degree of accuracy such that fan performance can be confidently determined.
The work is supported by an EU Framework 7 grant and Rolls-Royce plc. Applicants must have a 2.1 or higher first degree in an engineering discipline and have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD qualification in a relevant subject area. Research experience in the development of probe based aerodynamic instrumentation (using CFD and experimental approaches) is essential as is a background of their application to gas turbine flows. General knowledge of gas turbine engines and familiarity with Matlab, LabView is desirable.
