School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Politics, History and International Relations at Loughborough University, which is part of the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences. Committed to providing the best possible student experience, the Department has established a reputation for promoting innovative teaching methods and has a record of excellent NSS results. As researchers, we are engaged in work across the fields of political science, political theory, public policy, international relations and modern history. Our aim is to stimulate innovative research that has the potential to transform academic and public debates and to contribute to wide ranging issues of social, political, economic and environmental significance. Multi- and interdisciplinary working and perspectives are well-developed within and beyond the School.
We wish to appoint a lecturer in post-1945 International Politics and History. The post-holder will contribute to teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in history and international relations. Candidates should have a PhD, and any relevant sub-specialism will be considered. Experience of teaching at the interface of history and international relations would be preferable. The appointment is part of an ongoing investment strategy to strengthen the research profile and impact in PHIR, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Centre for the Study of International Governance. The Centre provides a University focus for research into a range of topics including the changing nature of global governance, crisis management, migration, EU politics, diplomacy, terrorism, environmental politics, and the new and enduring challenges to existing political institutions and processes.
