University Language Teacher in Spanish
Open ended and part-time at FTE0.45, starting in September 2025
Loughborough University’s Language Centre team of 12 teachers delivers credit-bearing modules and extra-curricular courses to non-specialist students from across the University in French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, from beginner through to degree level. Our dynamic small-group teaching receives high levels of positive feedback from students, and we are always seeking to improve and evolve.
We are currently looking a part-time professional educator to join our Spanish team from 1st September 2025.
Applicants to this post will be native or near native speakers of Spanish with a first-hand experience of at least one Spanish-speaking culture, a solid pedagogical competence, and a commitment to delivering stimulating classes that engage students, actively helping them to achieve positive learning outcomes. You should have prior experience of successfully delivering courses and have an excellent capacity to contribute to teamwork, as you will be one of several teachers collaborating on shared modules.
Most of the work hours for the post are concentrated in term time, teaching 8-10 hours per week. Our teaching currently takes place weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during University semesters (see https://www.lboro.ac.uk/students/welcome/when-you-get-here/term-dates/ ), with many of the hours between 9 am and 2 pm. This can vary depending on the type of duty you are undertaking and might change in future.
Continuous Professional Development is an essential element of the Language Centre’s ethos, and we are looking for someone who enjoys seeking out opportunities to update their skills and keep abreast of new developments and innovations in teaching.
