Loughborough University London Campus - Institute of International Management
Created in 2017, the Institute of International Management at Loughborough University's London Campus, is a home for multi-disciplinary analysis of management in international context. As it grows over the next few years, Comparative Institutional Analysis will be a key building block of research in the Institute, while leaving room for a range of other approaches to the subject. The research agenda will tackle a number of substantive themes, two of which will be understanding the nature of work in multinational companies and global economic- and corporate governance in comparative perspective.
A key aim of the Institute is to build expertise in emerging economies. We seek to make an appointment at Reader level. The successful candidate will be expected to plan, develop and teach postgraduate courses in International Management and related areas. He or she will also be expected to supervise higher degree research students, to produce high-quality scholarly research outputs, to attract external research funding and to interact with a range of relevant external stakeholders.
The successful applicant will have research relating to economies in Asia, Latin America, and the transition economies of Eastern Europe amongst others, develop partnership with universities in these regions and engage with a range of stakeholders (firms, governments, regulators, professional bodies) in relevant countries. A key aspect of our developing research agenda is to study the internationalisation of firms from emerging economies - so called Emerging Market MNEs (EMMNEs) - examining the phenomena of governance and work in such firms.
The Institute will launch an MSc in International Management in September 2018, with the programme being informed both by the growing competencies of the Institute and the expertise within the School of Business and Economics within the main campus in Loughborough. In time, we will develop more specialised MScs linked to this one, giving students the option of specialising in particular regions and themes, which we will achieve partly through partnerships with universities in other countries.
Applicants should have a record of publications in high-quality journals. They will have demonstrated experience in teaching, with particular interest in teaching Masters and PhD students.
For an appointment at Reader level, we expect a substantial achievement in research, including an internationally competitive research record and to have attracted research funding. In addition, the successful candidate should have a demonstrated record in leadership and be willing to take on a leadership role within the Institute. They will be required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic and technical staff, and postgraduate students and have excellent communication skills in both written and oral English.
Enquires about the position should be directed to: Professor Mike Caine, Dean of Loughborough University London, at: m.p.caine@lboro.ac.uk
The University reserves the right to offer a market supplement of up to GBP 12,000 per annum to a candidate deemed as outstanding on appointment.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 2pm (BST) on 11th July 2017.
