Applications are invited for the post of a full-time Employability Development Officer, working within the University's highly regarded Careers Network (CN).
This is an exciting time to be joining our successful and dynamic team, as we continue to develop and enhance the services we provide. Working in a fast-moving, client-centred environment we work closely with academic and other professional services colleagues and external partners to deliver an engaging and exciting range of events, skills programmes and guidance activities in both 1:1 and group settings.
As an Employability Development Officer (EDO) you will report to a Careers Consultant and work closely with them in the provision of a range of services to clients within a specific academic School, or group of Schools, designed to optimise career confidence, employability skills, work experience and personal development. The current caseload for this post is the School of Business and Economics and supporting international student activities.
You will provide first line support and advice, and encourage student engagement with appropriate guidance and skills development activities, and with a wide range of placements, work experience and graduate job opportunities.
EDOs help deliver presentations and workshops, communicate with students and key stakeholder via different means including social media, develop printed and online information resources, and research and keep up to date with relevant graduate labour market trends, as well as supporting links with employers and maintaining excellent working relationships with key contacts in the academic Schools.
EDOs also provide administrative support and co-ordination for other university-wide projects designed to enhance student/graduate employability.
We are looking for an innovative and forward thinking colleague who has a can-do approach with experience of providing careers information and advice to students or other relevant client groups, ideally in a university. You'll need to demonstrate excellent client service and support skills combined with very good administration and project experience.
The job will require great teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to present information clearly in group settings, and you'll also need to be ready to be challenged and naturally enjoy being involved in new initiatives.
Qualification to degree level would be ideal but not necessarily essential, and we would expect you to be keen to develop additional relevant skills.
