Loughborough Sport

Loughborough University, recognised as one of the world's leading sporting universities, is seeking experienced Duty Managers to join our Sport team. These roles are key to delivering an outstanding customer experience while ensuring the highest standards of facility operations, health and safety, maintenance and housekeeping.
We currently have two vacancies:
Swimming Pool Duty Manager
In addition to the core Duty Manager responsibilities, the successful candidate will have operational responsibility for the University Swimming Pool and associated aquatic activities. This will include ensuring the safe and effective day-to-day running of the facility, maintaining compliance with pool operating procedures and health and safety regulations, and supporting the delivery of a high-quality customer experience for all users.
The role will involve overseeing daily pool operations, supporting aquatic programming and activities, and working closely with facility staff, coaches, swimming teachers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the facility. This will include support for the administration and delivery of the University's Learn to Swim programme.
Experience of working within a swimming pool environment and an understanding of aquatic operations, programming and pool plant systems would be advantageous.
Multi-Site Duty Manager
In addition to the core Duty Manager responsibilities, the successful candidate will support the operational management of a diverse range of world-class sporting facilities, including the Athletics Centre, Holywell Fitness Centre, football stadium and associated pitches. You will ensure these facilities are presented and operated to the highest standards, providing a safe, welcoming, and high-performing environment for students, staff, athletes, clubs and visitors.
The role will involve overseeing daily operations, coordinating facility set-up requirements, supporting the delivery of training sessions, competitions and events, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety procedures. You will work closely with facility staff, coaches, performance sport teams, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective operation of all areas under your responsibility.
You will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of customer service, cleanliness, maintenance and facility presentation, whilst responding effectively to operational issues and ensuring resources are deployed appropriately across multiple sites. Experience of managing leisure, fitness, sports facilities or event operations within a busy environment would be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will be organised, adaptable and capable of managing competing priorities across several facilities, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering an industry-leading experience for all users.
Both roles will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team, you will help create a welcoming, vibrant, and motivational environment that supports students, staff, athletes, and visitors in achieving their fitness and sporting goals.
The successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to balance hands-on operational management with effective leadership and oversight. You will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of customer service, health and safety, facility presentation and operational performance.
Working pattern:• 37 hours per week• Combination of early and late shifts• Regular weekend working• Bank holiday working required• Includes a 12.5% year-round shift allowance
