Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for:
A University Teacher is sought for Maternity Cover from mid-September 2026 for 9 months, or the earlier return of the post holder, for Loughborough University’s Department of Materials. The post holder will contribute to the teaching of existing and future undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and help to enhance Loughborough’s position as sector leading in terms of its Student Experience. Experience of teaching a range of engineering principles related to materials disciplines is expected with a preference for expertise in Polymer Processing. The role will include developing and delivery lectures, tutorial sessions, practical workshops, projects and group-working with students and other staff, engaging in assessment, and providing feedback to students.

About the Department
The Department of Materials is part of the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (AACME). Loughborough University is well known for offering a life-changing experience, both academically and socially and strives to equip our students for every aspect of their life and career, by supporting them to gain vital experience and skills.
AACME consists of three exceptional departments, evidenced by high league table rankings, strong student recruitment at high average entry tariffs, well established partnerships with world leading companies, supported by intensive research activity that is mostly world leading or internationally excellent.
About You
· You will have a PhD degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline with a strong emphasis on materials science or materials engineering.
· You will have experience of teaching in higher education, for example delivering lectures, running laboratory teaching sessions, running tutorials, facilitating group work etc.
· Ideally you will have experience of setting and marking assessments and providing student feedback.
