Loughborough University is offering a fantastic opportunity to join its Financial Accounting and Treasury team, in the role of Group Financial Accountant.
This role is the University’s Financial Accounting lead, with key responsibilities for delivering the University and Group Financial Statements, as well as being the University’s technical accounting expert.
The role will also have a range of interesting responsibilities outside of the key year end period, including the preparation and submission of a range of other external reporting (including corporation tax returns), controlling the University’s balance sheet, reporting forecast variances for accounting adjustments and group costs, leading the day-to-day relationship with the University’s external auditors and managing a small team of Financial Accountants.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with significant experience of working in a complex financial environment. They will have knowledge or experience of fulfilling a financial accounting role, either in industry or in practice as well as experience dealing with external stakeholders, delivering workable solutions to technical issues and managing people. Excellent practical IT skills are also very desirable in the role; in particular the ability to use both finance systems and excel.
The Financial Accounting and Treasury team forms part of the Financial Control section of the University’s Finance Office, delivering excellent external Financial Reporting, controlling the University’s balance sheet, and to safeguarding and manage cash effectively.
