School of Science
Full time, open ended, term time only contract, working 37 hours a week over 32 weeks.
Loughborough University is seeking to appoint a term time only technician in the multi-disciplinary School of Science. Primarily based in the teaching laboratories of the state-of-the-art STEMLab facility, the post holder will provide technical support to staff and students in the Chemistry Department to support and enhance the department's technical, teaching and research capabilities.
Working under the general guidance of the Technical Tutor, duties will include: preparation of chemicals and materials for practical laboratories according to timetabled sessions, monitoring and maintaining laboratory consumables stocks, maintaining chemical and equipment inventories, ensuring equipment for standard and more specialist techniques is maintained and ready for use, assisting in the disposal of waste chemicals and equipment and implementation of laboratory Health and Safety procedures.
Working hours can be flexible but with an emphasis on ensuring timetabled sessions are well supported.
This role would suit someone with a science background, and good working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations and practices. The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual with good practical and communication skills who works well as part of a team.
