INTERNATIONAL LIAISON MANAGER (MODERN ENERGY COOKING SERVICES PROGRAMME)
Two posts, each full-time and fixed-term for two years (job-share and flexible working arrangements considered)
Following the successful award of the new GBP 39.8 million Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme from the UK Department for International Development, UK Aid, we are seeking to recruit two excellent International Liaison Managers.
MECS' key ambition is accelerating the transition from biomass use to genuinely clean cooking using gas or electricity through a combination of support for technology development and business innovation, promotion of behaviour change and clean cooking demand and policy engagement. The post-holders will lead MECS' work in seeking to change the narrative within the cooking sector by strengthening bridging points with the energy access sector and building the international collaborations and commercial partnerships that will be necessary for the deployment of ground-breaking new clean cooking technologies at scale. Their role will be to develop and implement strategies for identifying and establishing emerging opportunities for connecting the international energy access and clean cooking communities and building the international collaborations and commercial partnerships that will be necessary for the deployment of ground-breaking new clean cooking technologies at scale. This will be achieved via using the global brand of MECS to build a global coalition of committed stakeholders, co-funders and decision-makers and building support for MECS amongst relevant manufacturers, distributors, retailers, financiers, industry bodies and international institutions.
We envisage that one post-holder will have substantial high-level experience in the international development sector and a strong network of connections with a range of key UK and international stakeholders who are likely to be interested in promoting modern energy cooking services and have programmes that could complement MECS objectives. They will have excellent understanding of the complexities of working with partners from developing countries.
The other post-holder will have substantial high-level experience in relevant commercial and/or financial sectors and a strong network of connections with a range of the key stakeholders likely to be interested in promoting MECS. They will have excellent understanding of the complexities of working with diverse groups of stakeholders and knowledge of the complexities of developing countries would be of benefit.
Excellent communication skills and collaborative working is necessary for this role.
